The 2018 Project Management Series 

The 2018 Project Management Series consists of four 8 hour courses:

1)  Project Initiation, Planning and Scheduling                 Friday, August 24, 2018
2)  Planning and Scheduling Execution                              Saturday, August 25, 2018
3)  Team Management Communication                              Friday, September 14, 2018
4)  Closing a Project Time Management                            Tuesday, September 25, 2018

Project Initiation Planning and Scheduling - This first course of the series will focus on understanding the requirements and scope of the project plus the stakeholder identification and impact.  You will learn good planning to include proper task identification, resource allocation and building a realistic schedule and budget.

Planning and Scheduling Execution  - To complete the planning and scheduling phase of this series you will discuss how to manage risks and issues to keep your project on schedule and how to avoid cost and schedule overruns.  

Team Management Communication - Good communication skills are essential for the success of a project.  In this course, you will learn different communication styles, how to determine the communication needs of stakeholders and how to manage conflict. 

Closing a Project Time Management - It is important to tie up all loose ends in closing a project and get it ready to turn it over to your customer.  We will discuss those steps and talk about harnessing the power of lessons learned for future projects.  

Instructor Kathleen McHugh 

Kathleen has over 18 years of project management experience implementing software for physician offices and large-scale hospital IT projects.  She earned her PMP certification in 2007 and as a continuing education instructor, teaches at several Washington Universities.  Kathleen also works with multiple companies designing project plans and training curriculum.  She attended West Virginia University and obtained her Master Certificate in Project Management from Villanova University.  

Series Costs:  

The total series of four courses:
$1,000 for IEC of Oregon Members or $250 for each course
$1,400 for non-members or $350 for each course

2018 Leadership Development Series 

Intended for anyone in the industry looking to improve their leadership skills.  Meets one Friday each month for a three-hour hands-on workshop, the series is designed to provide supervisors, managers and team leaders with crucial insights into building and supporting high functioning teams.

The topics include: Role of Leaders, Personality Inventory & Leadership, Public Speaking, Team Building and Managing People, Common Pitfalls of Construction, Construction Finance, Leading and Planning, Dispute Resolution and Negotiation, Safety Program Awareness and Retention, Dealing with Difficult People and The Legislative and Political Process.  This year-long series started in January 2118.
