Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) of Oregon was awarded the 2016 Legislative Chapter of the Year by IEC National for spearheading the efforts to clarify the rules surrounding permit fees and inspections for multifamily electrical projects. The rule change will allow for a more uniform statewide application and will create more consistency and predictability for electrical contractors. This change will save contractors thousands in fees, as well as when and how a building inspection program may issue stop-work orders.
Receiving an Independent Electrical Contractor’s National Award is a tremendous achievement. Awards are handed out every year the IEC National Conference, and these award winners represent those members and chapters who have made great strides within the electrical industry and the association.
IEC Oregon is dedicated to being the voice of the merit shop when legislation and codes impact the electrical industry. We work to ensure that policies are fair across the industry, and that merit shop contractors are represented at the table.
