It was an enjoyable evening, as IEC of Oregon held its annual membership meeting on June 28th at the McMenamins Wilsonville Old Church and Amphitheater. This year the purpose was two-fold: to vote in a new board, update the bylaws and celebrate 40 years as the voice of the merit shop.
After a short reception to say hello to new and old acquaintances, Board President Liam O’Brien called the meeting to order, welcomed our special guests and presented the membership with the association’s assets, liabilities and equity to demonstrate good financial stewardship. Carl Redman, Past President, followed to present three minor changes to the by-laws and introduce the 2018-2019 board slate which was unanimously approved.

Thank you to all our members who supported the Electrical and Limited Energy Apprenticeship Programs through the Dinner and Silent Auction the evening of March 16th at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. Under the wings of the SR-71 Blackbird, attendees enjoyed the musical stylings of Matthew Casey while perusing the twenty-two silent auction packages. Two items garnering a lot of competitive bidding included a tiny house on the lake in Pine Hollow donated by our own Kyle and Traci Ruthardt of Bull Run Electric and 4 tickets to OU football with a close in parking pass from Steve and Tammy Peterson of Cascade Electric. Fifty-four items went on the block including Disneyland, Dr. Dre Beat headphones, white water rafting trips and mountain bike tours plus lots of family packages to raise over $4,000 for scholarships, lab equipment and other support for our two apprenticeship programs.
