Apprenticeship Applicant Process

Application and all other documentation must be submit by the last day of of opening in order to attend the trade orientation.

Applicants meeting minimum qualifications are required to attend the scheduled trade orientation.

Applicants attending the trade orientation will be scheduled for an oral interview following the orientation..

The application and interview scores will be combined to determine placement in the ranked pool.

Applicants will be notified of their score by mail.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be a high school graduate or have obtained a G.E.D. certificate.

Must have completed one year of high school algebra, integrated math 2, or equivalent post high school algebra course(s) with a grade of “C” or better, or submit equivalent math placement test scores.

Documentation of the requirements listed above must be submitted by closing.
Additional Documentation for Application Points
Qualifying applications will be reviewed and scored according to application, interview score, and any additional documentation submit by deadline. Points will not be given unless the applicant provides written documentation of the following: (letters from employers on company letterhead, DD214, course certificates, school transcripts, etc.)

This is a list from which applicants are dispatched to training agents and begin their apprenticeship. Current apprentices on the out-of-work list who are unemployed will be placed prior to selecting from the pool-of-eligibles list. New apprentices from the pool-of-eligibles list are dispatched in ranking order.

Ranking Selection Method
Applicants who have met all minimum requirements for entry are ranked and placed according to set guidelines you can download.
Applications are given a score and corresponding applicants are ranked on the Pool-of-Eligibles list.

Algebra Requirements,Placement Testing, & Algebra Assistance
The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee understands the struggles that a Potential Apprentice may encounter when trying to meet the program entry requirements. We would like to offer some assistance with learning the basics of Algebra so that an applicant is able to pass the college placement test.

Our policies state that applicants must:
Obtain a "C" or higher in high school Algebra for one year
Attend a college Algebra class, scoring a "C" or higher
Take a college placement test scoring high enough to place you in one of the following math classes:
Portland Community College - Math 70
Clackamas Community College - Math 65
Linn Benton Community College - Math 65
Chemeketa Community College - Math 70
Mt. Hood Community College - Math 60

Our policies state that applicants must:
Transcripts must show a minimum of 1 full year of high school algebra or equivalent (math070 by Chemeketa Community College standards) with a minimum of a c grade or the equivalent of 1 full year of post high school math.
Take the Chemeketa math placement test and attain a score that allows them to enter Math 070 or higher. This test must be completed within the last 12 months of the application date.

Related Training Class
Information
- You must register at Clackamas Community College and pay tuition for each term once registered as an apprentice in the program.
- You must attend school Fall, Winter, & Spring term until you have successfully passed the State Exam.
- You must obtain the required books for class each term.
- You must attend all classes.
Area II Electrician

Information
- You must register at Chemeketa and pay tuition for each term.
- You must always be enrolled in a related training course while in the program.
- You must obtain the required books for each term.
- You must attend all classes.
